January 21, 2010 - Testing (Stage 1)

(click on pictures to enlarge them)

Because I don't like to build everything only to find that I have an entire neighborhood to test all at once, I'm going to test each part of the neighborhood at random intervals. Today, I did some testing using the Abner family. Who they are isn't important because I don't even know their history quite yet, but you'll find out soon enough. So ladies and gentlemen, I give, you, Allison and Bradley Abner!

As you can see, their lot/house has a clear view of the jungle. I've got some community lots placed in front of it so hopefully, the jungle won't be as obvious when I place the flora, water, etc. in front of it. I might have to use some decoy buildings as well, lol!

Also, Allison and Bradley obviously stick out like a sore thumb in this very beach-oriented neighborhood. That's because I intend for them to live in the more country-like neighborhood, but for now, they're just testers.

The roads seem to work fine, which is good. I love the scenery, this is all so exciting! I actually wanted to play longer than I did, which was 15 minutes. It's like rediscovering the game all over again.

Bradley (the plaid stomach on the left) arrived at the library without any issues. However, there is an awkward slope on the lot of the library that I need to fix. It doesn't cause any problems, but as I said, it's awkward-looking. (notice Allison's cab in the background, I thought that was cool)

I like how clean everything turned out. It came out a lot better than I was expecting.

We then switch to Allison, who looks like she's holding in a pee before diving into the pool. ;)
(The community pool works fine, btw. The only thing I can think of that might be a problem is the fact that it does not have a bathroom. However, it is right in front of a park that DOES have a bathroom, so it shouldn't be more than a 15 sim-minute walk.)

The park. It's gorgeous, I was honestly shocked. I don't know what I was expecting, but it turned out rather nicely.

And we then go back to Bradley to find him trolling forums. (if you look closely out the window, you can see Allison fishing in the park)

He then joins Allison in the park for some fishing. Of course, they won't catch anything, but it's nice to know the option is there!

Allison grilling some hot dogs. Did anyone else realize hot dogs were $12? I just noticed that, lol! It's a shame, considering how long I've had this game...

I tested the bridge, and it works perfectly. (except from the fact that the stairs aren't leveled, but I don't know whether or not to let that be, or to try and fix it somehow)

The gallery works fine, and it has a nice view. I've got the displays, but I need to get some sculptures, paintings, and maybe an easel.

And now we get to the fun part, which would be, you guessed it! The jungle!
(also, I've noticed that the game generated 2 townies from what I saw. And the funniest part? They all came from somewhere in the jungle!)

Poor Allison...you can tell she's not the most athletic person out there. But in her defense, it's hard to run in heels! (also, I think I'll be getting rid of the stone hedges in front of the sidewalk)

The Fire Pit is fully functional with no glitches that I could find. Apparently, eating marshmallows does help your hunger go up. I wonder if you can cook fish in the pit...

The pond worked, which was good. I thought the rocks might cause an inconvenience. It has a really nice view of the waterfall. And now onto shack testing!

These pictures are pictures of the interior of the Abner Shack. I felt it was fitting. ;)

And here we have Allison who is in the Landon Shack which is, if you remember, the largest shack out of the three of them (the Landon Shack has 2 bedrooms)

Here are the two bedrooms and the door that leads to the balcony is unfortunately, not shown.

Both Allison and Bradley showcasing the Landon Shack, which is the smallest. Here you see the two of them flirting. ;)

It sure does have a beautiful view though...

Allison and Bradley make it back to civilization just in time to get some grub. They weren't especially hungry, but I wanted to test the bistro.

They then made their way to an empty patch of land that will be a beach because I wanted to test the scenery. It's perfect for a romantic setting, as you can see here. ;)

Aww, they're too cute together! Too bad I can't save them quite yet. Note to self: don't get attached to tester sims.

Awww....

  1. Awww, this is cute. I like the way you told this. It reminded me of some very very old television show I saw years ago. Allison and Bradley are great for advertising your new world.

  2. Thanks guys!

I definitely got a attached to Allison and Bradley while testing this world. So, I'm trying to speed up the process so I can play them sooner lol! And I love the world so far, except from when I was placing roads, I flattened them which caused this strange elevation of the terrain. I don't quite know how to explain it, but it's a problem that I'm not sure how to fix and kind of hinders the progress of the world. It is fixable though, thank goodness.

So it might be a few days before I update again. :)
